Spiking drills to teach spiking technique, footwork, arm swing and shot selection.
Proper warming up drill on shoulder, wrist action and timing of the jump is important.
1. Shoulder Warm-Up. Start with two-hand tosses to partner with at least 3 meters apart.
2. Approach without ball. Running through the spiking footwork at position 4 and 2
3. Wrist spiking. With a partner standing 3 meters apart, toss and do a wrist spike.

Volleyball Progressive Hitting Drill
Positioned a setter in the middle to toss the ball to the spiker on a progressive manner. The consistency of tossing helps the spiker to get familiar with the footwork of the different distance.
Ball Control: 25 Contact Drill
Passing, setting, spiking, ball control - This drill is to practice ball control, communication, teamwork, and warm up for hitting.
Putting 3 players on each side of the net: MIddle back digger, Setter and Outside Spiker. Rotate the middle back digger after every ball.
1. Coach toss free ball to player at middle back position
2. Middle back digging to setter positioned at net
3. Setter sets to position 4 spiker
4. Spiker hits a controlled hit to middle back on opposite side of the net; approach and swing or down ball
5. Players follow their ball: Digger goes to setter, setter to spiker, spiker to end of line at middle back
6. Count contacts out loud with the goal being trying to get 25 contacts before the other team does

Run the Middle!
This drill focuses on server controlling ability, at the same time working on all the different role of server, digger, setter and spiker routine.
1. Server are required to serve to the back court zone 1, 5 & 6 as done in the first serving drill
2. Placing 3 diggers at the back court, to dig up the ball to setter positioned in the middle
3. Setter to set upward for the middle spiker
4. Spiker to run through the foot works and jumping routine without actual spiking done
